The Role of AI in Reducing Federal Regulations by DOGE
Department previously led by Elon Musk may be using AI to create ‘delete list’, here’s why

The "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE), previously led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, is utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to compile a "delete list" of federal regulations. The objective is to eliminate 50% of regulations by the first anniversary of US President Donald Trump's second inauguration. Internal documents obtained by The Washington Post reveal that the "Doge AI Deregulation Decision Tool" will assess 200,000 government regulations and identify those no longer necessary by law. Doge, under Musk's oversight until May, asserts that 100,000 regulations can be removed based on staff input.

How DOGE Plans to Reduce Federal Regulations Using AI Tool

In a PowerPoint presentation disclosed by The Washington Post, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) reportedly used the AI tool to make decisions on 1,083 regulatory sections, while the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau relied on it for 100% of deregulations. The Post's report also features interviews with three HUD employees who stated that AI was recently employed to review hundreds, if not over 1,000, lines of regulations. During his 2024 campaign, Trump emphasized that government regulations were increasing the cost of goods and vowed to pursue the most aggressive regulatory reduction ever. He frequently opposed climate crisis-related policies and instructed government agency heads to conduct a comprehensive review of regulations in coordination with DOGE.

White House's Response to DOGE's AI Tool for Deleting Federal Regulations

When questioned about the use of AI in deregulation, White House spokesperson Harrison Fields informed The Washington Post that "all options are being explored" to fulfill Trump's deregulation commitments. He clarified that "no single plan has been approved or green-lit" and highlighted that the process is still in its early stages and is being creatively managed in consultation with the White House. Fields noted, "The Doge experts creating these plans are the best and brightest in the business and are embarking on a never-before-attempted transformation of government systems and operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness."

5 Simple Ways to Detect Spy App on Your Smartphone
5 Simple Ways to Detect Spy App on Your Smartphone
In a recent ruling in a Divorce case, the Madhya Pradesh High Court held that a wife's private WhatsApp chat can be allowed to be presented as evidence under Section 14 of the Family Court Act, 1984 even if they are obtained without her permission. In this case, the husband accessed his wife's private WhatsApp chat via a special app installed on her phone (likely a spy app) without her knowledge and found out that she was having an extra-marital affair. His lawyers decided to present this as evidence in the court and seek divorce on the grounds of cruelty and adultery. The wife's lawyers challenged this move and did not want her WhatsApp chats to be presented to the court, arguing that this action by the husband violated her right to privacy under Article 21 of Constitution of India and Sections 43, 66 and 72 of the Information Technology Act. The Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected this argument and said that even though the right to privacy has been recognized as a fundamental right, the same is not absolute and is subject to exceptions and limitations.
