Novak Djokovic, the world number six and 24-time Grand Slam champion, has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open citing non-medical reasons. This marks his second consecutive withdrawal from ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, following his earlier decision to skip the Canadian Masters in Toronto due to a groin injury. The 38-year-old Serbian has had a notable presence in Cincinnati, holding a 45-12 record at the ATP Masters 1000 event. His last appearance resulted in a memorable victory against Carlos Alcaraz in the 2023 final, where he saved a championship point to win. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. Since then, he has participated in only two events, reaching the semifinals of both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, where he was defeated by Jannik Sinner. His next scheduled appearance will be at the US Open, beginning August 24, where he aims to secure his 25th Grand Slam title. This achievement would set an all-time record for men's and women's singles combined, matching Margaret Court's record in women's singles. Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner has arrived in Cincinnati to defend his title. The 23-year-old Italian is pursuing his first Masters 1000 trophy of 2025, joined by fellow competitors Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Carlos Alcaraz, whom he defeated in the Wimbledon final. The Cincinnati Open, commencing on Thursday, has undergone significant changes for 2025. The tournament has expanded to a two-week format with a 96-player draw, supported by a $260 million campus renovation project. The renovations include the addition of new courts, aimed at enhancing both player and fan experiences. The tournament will conclude on August 18.
