February 2026 Exercises
In the second February exercise, Category B fell 5.3 per cent to $105,001, placing it below Category A for the first time since July 2018.
Despite the broader declines seen in February, LTA noted that COE premiums remained elevated and continued to reflect strong underlying demand. Buyers and dealers were encouraged to exercise caution when placing bids.
January 2026 Exercises
LTA attributed the rise in COE premiums during January to seasonal demand associated with the Singapore Motor Show and preparations for the Chinese New Year period. The authority again urged buyers and dealers to bid responsibly.
Frequently Asked Questions About COE
What are the COE categories?
Category A: Internal combustion engine cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp, or electric vehicles with output up to 110kW (147bhp).
Category B: Cars exceeding the Category A limits, including larger hybrid and electric vehicles.
Category C: Goods vehicles and buses.
Category D: Motorcycles.
Category E: Open category covering all vehicle types except motorcycles.
How does COE bidding work?
COE bidding is conducted twice each month. Exercises begin at 12pm on the first and third Monday of the month and close at 4pm on the corresponding Wednesday, provided there are no intervening public holidays.
Individual bidders may submit bids through DBS/POSB ATMs, while corporate account holders can bid online through participating banks. Car dealers can also submit bids on behalf of customers purchasing vehicles.
To participate, bidders must maintain sufficient funds in their accounts to cover deposits and administrative charges:
Categories A, B, C and E: More than $10,000
Category D: More than $1,500
Bidders must provide the correct identification details, including NRIC, FIN, ACRA number or UEN, depending on the account type.
After selecting a vehicle category, bidders enter their maximum reserve price. The minimum bid is $1, and bids can be revised upward or withdrawn before the exercise closes.
Successful submissions generate a six-digit acknowledgement code, which is required for any subsequent bid revisions.
How are COE results determined?
After bidding closes, results are published on the OneMotoring COE Open Bidding platform.
Successful bids are determined by available quota and bid values. However, all successful bidders within a category pay the same Quota Premium (QP), calculated as the highest unsuccessful bid plus $1.
For example, if two COEs are available and three bidders submit offers of $50,000, $45,000 and $35,000, the first two bidders secure the COEs. Both winners will pay $35,001, which is the highest unsuccessful bid plus $1.
The Prevailing Quota Premium (PQP), used for COE renewals, is calculated based on the moving average of QPs over the previous three months.
